Laser Range finder
A laser range finder operating at 1550 nm wavelength is designed to accurately measure distances up to 5 km using laser technology. This wavelength is commonly used due to its advantages in terms of atmospheric transparency and eye safety regulations. By emitting short pulses of laser light and measuring the time it takes for the light to reflect back from a target, these range finders calculate distances with high precision, typically within centimeters or millimeters depending on the model and conditions. They are utilized in various applications such as surveying, construction, military operations, and remote sensing where precise distance measurements over long ranges are crucial. The 1550 nm wavelength ensures minimal atmospheric absorption and scattering, allowing for reliable performance even in adverse weather conditions. Laser range finders at this wavelength are integral tools for tasks requiring accurate distance determination over extended distances, contributing significantly to operational efficiency and safety in diverse environments. This is being developed as part of iDEX project from IOL (India Optel Limited), OFDUN (Ordnance Factory Dehradun) and OFT (Ordnance Factory Trichi) projects.
